It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin P. Lira, affectionately known as Pete, a beloved husband, father, and talented musician. A shining star in the jazz and blues community, he captivated audiences with his mesmerizing vocals and mastery of multiple instruments.
In addition to his musical talents, Pete was a master barber for over 40 years, earning the admiration of countless customers who regarded him as legendary and rare. His expertise not only transformed appearances but also fostered lasting friendships and connections within the community.
Pete's passion for music and barbering shone through every note he played and every cut he made. His infectious spirit and remarkable talent brought joy to many, leaving a legacy that will inspire future generations.
He is survived by his three sisters and two brothers, as well as his devoted wife, Esperanza (Epi) Lira. He leaves behind cherished children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom were blessed to call him family. Benjamin's warmth, love, and artistic gifts will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him.
A celebration of Pete's life will be held at Titlow Lodge, 8425 6th Ave, Tacoma, WA 98465, on June 20, 2025, from 2 PM to 4 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor his extraordinary journey and the music and artistry that will live on in our hearts.
In the words of the sun that rose on May 6, 1948, and set on June 4, 2025, his light will forever shine.
